I've lived in Great Neck for over 49 years! I went through the school system, which by the way, over 93% go on to higher education! The greatest concentration of Ivy League students reside on Long Island. There are seven semi-finalists in the 2004 INTEL/SIEMENS Science Talent Search Scholarship Awards (formerly The Westinghouse Science Scholarship Awards) considered the "Junior Nobel Prize" of science for high school students. In the past, twenty Nine percent of the national semi-finalists have been Long Islanders.

Great Neck maintains well over 21 beautiful public parks, recreational- passive parks, private pools, country clubs, golf courses, a multitude of indoor and outdoor tennis courts for both the die-hard and occasional tennis player! Steppingstone Park, on the water is my favorite! Moor your large or small boat conveniently close to home!  During the summer months there are assorted Concerts and shows that are quite enjoyable! They're FREE to residents of Great Neck! These leisure activities are spread over the 9 incorporated villages of Great Neck, Kings Point (featuring a 175 acre park), Saddle Rock, Great Neck Estates, Kensington, Thomaston, Russell Gardens, University Gardens and Lake Success. Our safe villages have their own private police forces in addition to the county and state police.

The area conducts the two most successfully attended Street Fairs on Long Island each with over 25000 participants!!! The first one in May on a Sunday, a Huge Arts & Crafts Event lining Middle Neck Rd, in the north section of the Village of Great Neck between Fairview Ave & Hicks Lane. And of course Loads of Great Food, Face Painting & Activities for the kids and for the Adults, "Shop Til Ya Drop" Displays and tables of beautiful and exotic handmade merchandise from around the country. The second one occurs in September, again on a Sunday, September 19, 2004 from Noon-5 P.M. (Rain Date Sept 26), in Great Neck Plaza, the heart of Great Neck, in and around Bond St (where we are located!) and flows onto Grace Ave down to Middle Neck Rd from Cedar Drive on the north side down to Great Neck Rd on the south side. This event is an Antique & Specialty Car show, featuring over 100 mint condition vehicles and also sharing similar displays, rides etc. to the first fair with many other added events for adults and children. Music and entertainment abound with varied types of FOOD WITH LOTS OF FUN AND ENJOYMENT FOR ALL!!!!

Great Neck is an upscale, urban/suburban, country like community with a heritage dating back to the early 1600's. It has a diverse blend of peoples' Languages, Customs, Cultures and Religions from over 70 countries speaking 42 languages. A truly wonderful place to call your home. A multitude of specialty shops & restaurants line the country-like streets as people, stroll & window-shop after breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also have a cultural spot called Great Neck House (which used to be our library), where FREE MOVIES are shown weekly to Great Neck Park District residents, as well as a place for events & get-togethers. We have a fabulous computerized Library situated on a Pond which is soon to be expanded. It is connected to 53 other libraries throughout the Nassau County Library System.

There is really Soooo much to do here! No time to sit!

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, which used to be the Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. Estate, resides here next to Steppingstone park. It has several hundred undergraduates who are taught & trained for the Merchant Marine in the public and private sector. In addition, Steppingstone Park also has sailing classes, a sprinkler area, children's pool, indoor play scape & a food concession to satisfy your hunger!

The Parkwood Pool Complex (renovated in 1995) has a huge "L" shaped swimming pool & 2 smaller ones. Also, there is a huge arched beamed enclosed area that is used for concerts, basketball, volleyball & badminton. In the winter, it functions as an ice skating rink. A food concession area services the complex year round.

We have many associations, like Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Lions, Kiwanis, etc. that enable people to get involved, to make the community a better place to live & enjoy life!

For more fun, We are a hop, skip & a jump from New York City. The "Big Apple" is as little as 24 minutes by train. You really feel like you're always on vacation in the upbeat environment of Great Neck. It's still Enjoyable, Relaxing, Motivating, Clean, Safe & NEVER BORING.

Nearby are the towns of Manhasset, Port Washington, Roslyn, Searingtown, New Hyde Park and many others where I have been helping my customers and clients buy & sell their homes, condos & co-ops. Although there is much more to be said about my town I think if you pay a visit, you'll gain much more insight into the "Gold Coast" and its exciting and dynamic lifestyles. It's where the book "The Great Gatsby" was written and many famous people have lived here like: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Fanny Brice, Oscar Hammerstein, Ed Wynn, Groucho Marx, Sid Cesaer, Al Jolson, Whitey Ford and Alan King, who still resides here.
